Are you interested in web application security? The Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) has a new chapter in Ames, Iowa, and we’d love to see you at our inaugural meeting to be held on Wednesday, August 20th at 5:30pm. The meeting will be hosted by Workiva (formerly WebFilings) in Ames. Fresh, brick-oven fired pizza will be provided!
OWASP, with local chapters worldwide, is a non-profit organization focused on improving the security of software; specifically web applications. We have a huge amount of talent in Ames and the surrounding community, and having a local OWASP chapter will help us all foster stronger relationships and learn the latest and greatest in web application security techniques. OWASP meetings facilitate discussions with developers and IT professionals in a casual, diverse, and friendly environment. Anyone with a passion for security is invited to present and spread their knowledge to the group. Membership is free, and so is the dinner.
Chapter leaders Ben Blakely and Matthew Sullivan will give a short presentation around how Workiva thinks about cloud web application security, followed by an introduction to “Burp Suite”, a very popular tool used in the assessment of web applications.
We hope to see you on the 20th!
